Symptoms, decoded
Revs climb but speed doesn't — the clutch is slipping. Every hard pull now wears it faster; the flywheel may still be saveable if you come in early.
Pedal feels heavy, or sticks to the floor — usually hydraulics: master cylinder, slave cylinder, or a leak. Often the cheapest fix on this page.
Grinding when shifting — a clutch that won't fully release, or worn synchros inside the box. The road test tells them apart. (Synchro side: manual transmission repair.)
Chatter or shudder on takeoff — contaminated or glazed disc, worn pressure plate, or oil reaching the clutch from a leak that needs fixing first.
