Free Initial Inspection

Our free initial inspection is a real road test, a computer scan, and a lift inspection — about two hours of a technician's time, at no charge and with no obligation. Then we call you with what we found and a number we stand behind. We do it free because it's the only honest way to quote a transmission: we won't guess over the phone, and neither should anyone else.

We drive it

A real road test, trying to reproduce exactly what you described — the slip, the shudder, the delay, hot or cold. Symptoms that "only do it sometimes" are our specialty; tell us the pattern.

2

We scan it

A full computer scan — but a code is a clue, not a diagnosis. Plenty of cars arrive with a Googled code pointing at a solenoid when the real cause is something else entirely.

3

We put it on the lift

Fluid condition, leaks, mounts, linkage, axles, driveline. Then we call you with what we found, in plain English, and a written number that doesn't move.

One honest framing note: this is a drop-off, not a while-you-wait appointment. Diagnosis takes real time, and with a four-person shop we'd rather do it right than rush it while you sit in the lobby. Can't pick up before we close at 4:30? Settle your invoice with us by phone and we'll leave your keys where you want them.

The second opinion

Quoted a new transmission somewhere else? Bring us the quote.

Second opinions are quietly the biggest thing we do. A significant share of the vehicles that arrive here with a replacement quote from a dealer or another shop turn out to need something much smaller — customers have written about $12,000 quotes that became $1,500 repairs, and $3,000 quotes that became $500 ones.

The second look costs you nothing. If the first shop was right, we'll confirm it and show you exactly why — on the lift, with your own eyes if you want. If they weren't, you just saved thousands. Either way you leave knowing, instead of hoping.

When other repair shops hit a transmission problem they can't solve, they send the vehicle to us. That's the level of look your second opinion gets.

★★★★★ · GOOGLE

"I was told by another mechanic my truck needed a new transmission. Guardian was able to pinpoint the issue — which was not a new transmission — and saved me thousands. Good honest people!"

"They could have taken advantage of me" appears in our Google reviews, near-verbatim, from three different customers. We'd rather earn the next referral than the unnecessary rebuild. Read the reviews →

Free initial inspection questions

What's the catch?

There isn't one. We eat about two hours of labor because it's the only way to quote honestly — and because enough of those free looks turn into work, referrals, or a customer who comes back with the family's other car. Plenty of people have taken the free answer and fixed it elsewhere or driven on. That's fine.

What if it turns out not to be the transmission?

We tell you that, plainly — it happens all the time. Engine sensors, mounts, fuses, and tires all imitate transmission problems. We don't do engine or general repair, but we'll point you to a shop we trust.

My car can't be driven. Now what?

Have it towed to us at 2150 Post Oak Tritt Rd. We don't tow ourselves, but call us first — we'll talk you through it and make sure we're ready for the truck.

I'm a past customer and something feels off. Does the free look apply?

Always. Past customers get free follow-up checks — bring it back and we'll look, no charge, whether or not it's related to the original work.

Stop guessing. Start knowing — free.
