Custom Transmission Rebuilds in Marietta, GA — built by hand, for your vehicle.

A custom rebuild means we take your transmission completely apart, inspect every valve, solenoid, and clutch pack, and reassemble it by hand with parts we choose ourselves — correcting the known weak points of your specific transmission while we're in there. Then we road-test it before it goes back in. It's not an assembly-line remanufactured unit, and it's backed by a 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty.

Custom vs. assembly line

Rebuilt vs. remanufactured: one's custom, one's done on an assembly line.

A remanufactured ("reman") transmission is built in a factory, the same way every time, by workers who never see your vehicle — often with mixed-and-matched parts. You get whatever happened to the last one on the line. When it fails, the warranty claim goes to a company in another state.

Our rebuild is the opposite. We disassemble your transmission down to the case, inspect every component, and replace or upgrade what's worn — with parts we hand-pick per job, not the cheapest ones on the shelf. Because we know what your transmission is known to break, we can build it based on what your car needs and how you use it: towing, commuting, a work truck. A lot of times it leaves here better than original.

And one thing you may have read online is simply wrong: CVTs can be rebuilt. We rebuild them in house — see our CVT transmission repair page.

Before you commit thousands

Most cars with a transmission warning light don't need a rebuild.

We'd rather talk you out of a rebuild than sell you one you don't need. Our diagnostic process starts with the cheap and easy possibilities — fluid condition, sensors, valve body, solenoids — and works up. A rebuild is the answer only when the hard parts inside are actually damaged.

That's why we won't quote a rebuild over the phone. We drive it, scan it, and put it on the lift for free, then give you a real number. The number we quote is the number you pay — even if we priced it wrong. Rebuilds in this area typically run in the low-to-mid thousands; if yours needs a $500 repair instead, that's what we'll tell you.

"A transmission shop with a diagnostic process that starts cheap and easy and works up from there until the problem is fixed — instead of jumping straight to a rebuild."

Rebuild questions

What people ask us about rebuilds

Answered by the technicians who do the work. Anything else — call, and you'll get one of us, not a phone tree.

How much does a transmission rebuild cost?

We won't guess over the phone, because a guess isn't a price. After a free road test, scan, and lift inspection, you get a written number that doesn't move. Most rebuilds in this area run in the low-to-mid thousands — and many cars that come in expecting a rebuild leave with a much smaller repair.

Is it worth rebuilding, or should I just replace the car?

Run the math: a rebuild is a one-time cost on a car you know, against years of payments on one you don't. For a paid-off vehicle you'd otherwise keep, the rebuild usually wins — especially with 2 years / 24,000 miles of coverage. If the rest of the car isn't worth it, we'll say so at the diagnostic.

How long does a rebuild take?

It depends on the transmission and on parts availability, so we won't promise a day we can't keep. We'll give you an honest range when we quote it, and we'll text you updates as the work moves. Plan on a drop-off, not a wait.

Can I see the work?

Yes — please do. Our shop has big windows for a reason, we'll walk you into the bay, and you can take your old parts home when we're done.

Do you rebuild for other shops?

When other repair shops hit a transmission problem they can't solve, they send the vehicle to us — it happens every week. We charge shops the same price we charge you, so it's worth asking your general mechanic to recommend us rather than resell us.
